India secured a comfortable 6-wicket victory over Pakistan in the Champions Trophy, moving closer to qualification. Meanwhile, hosts Pakistan are on the brink of elimination after a heavy defeat.

During the post-match press conference, Shreyas Iyer was asked whether the team would have celebrated the same way if they had played in Pakistan.

He responded, “I haven’t played matches in Pakistan, so I don’t know exactly how it would have felt. But it’s a neutral venue and it’s a challenge for both teams. Any victory against Pakistan is sweet because they are always competitive.”

Iyer also acknowledged the external pressure surrounding the game, saying, “It’s a challenge, and there’s a lot of pressure externally as well. It was a lot of fun. It was my third game against Pakistan.”

India beat Pakistan by 6 wickets

Chasing 242, India lost Rohit Sharma early, but Shubman Gill kept the scoreboard ticking with a steady 46. Shreyas Iyer contributed 56 runs and built a crucial 114-run partnership with Virat Kohli in the middle overs.

Kohli, who enjoys playing against Pakistan, once again delivered a stellar performance, scoring his 51st ODI century. He also reached the milestone of 14,000 ODI runs, becoming the fastest to do so, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar.

Pakistan now sits at the bottom of Group A and faces an uphill battle to qualify. With two losses in two games and a lower net run rate than third-placed Bangladesh, they need a miracle and favorable results from other matches to keep their hopes alive.
