It is not the first time that signboards with the names of Mughal emperors were defaced. Similar incidents also took place in the past. In October 2021, a signboard on Akbar Road in Lutyens' Delhi was vandalised and posters of 'Samrat Hemu Vikramaditya' were pasted. In September 2018 also a poster with ‘Atal Marg’ written on it was reportedly found pasted on a signboard at Akbar Road.
