The Kalyan Police on Friday filed a 948-page chargesheet in the case of a 13-year-old girl in Kalyan who was allegedly raped and murdered by Vishal Gavli, and his wife Sakshi Gawali was involved in disposing of the girl's body, said the Kolsewadi police on Friday.
According to an investigating officer said the girl left home with Rs20 to buy chocolate and snacks when the accused allegedly abducted her. After allegedly killing her, he sought help from his wife to dispose of the body. The girl’s parents lodged a missing person complaint at Kolsewadi police station after searching for several hours.On next date, her body was found near the wall of a graveyard at Bapgaon near Bhiwandi.
Police said said that preliminary investigation has indicated that the girl was sexually assaulted and strangled by the accused. Following the incident, hundreds of locals staged a protect with their mouths covered with a black cloth took out a protest march and carried banners and placards demanding stringent action against the accused.
The main accused, Vishal Gawli, 35, was apprehended from Shegaon in Buldhana on December, 25, 2024, the crime branch Thane brought him to Kalyan on December 26, 2024.
