Bollywood filmmaker and choreographer Farah Khan has landed in legal trouble after a criminal complaint was filed against her for allegedly making offensive remarks about the Hindu festival of Holi. The complaint was lodged by former Bigg Boss contestant and social media personality Vikash Fhatak, popularly known as Hindustani Bhau, through his lawyer Advocate Ali Kaashif Khan Deshmukh.
According to a report in IANS, the complaint was registered at Khar Police Station, Mumbai, demanding legal action against Farah for her controversial statement made during an episode of the television cooking reality show Celebrity MasterChef.
In the complaint, Hindustani Bhau alleged that Farah referred to Holi as "a festival for the Chhapris," a term often considered derogatory. He claimed that her remark deeply hurt his religious sentiments, as well as those of the larger Hindu community.
According to reports, advocate Deshmukh stated, "The comment made by Farah Khan has disrespected the religious sentiments of Hindus. Referring to a sacred festival in such a manner is inappropriate and could lead to communal disharmony."
The complaint urges authorities to take strict action against Farah under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including Sections 196, 299, 302, and 353. It argued that her remarks were not only offensive but also inflammatory in nature.
