TATA.ev has announced an ambitious plan to expand India's EV charging infrastructure, aiming to install 400,000 charge points by 2027. This move comes after the company crossed the milestone of 200,000 EV sales, reinforcing its commitment to making electric mobility more convenient and accessible.
Tata.ev is set to accelerate India's EV charging network with its ‘Open Collaboration 2.0’ initiative, aiming to expand the number of charge points to over 400,000 in the next two years. Building on the success of its initial collaboration with Charge Point Operators (CPOs) and Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs), the company has already helped double the number of public chargers to over 18,000 in just 15 months. With more than 5 billion kilometers driven by EV users, Tata.ev has gathered crucial insights to strategically place new charging stations, ensuring a seamless and efficient charging experience across key locations, including highways and urban hotspots.
Tata.ev is set to expand India's EV charging network with the launch of Mega Chargers, aimed at providing fast and reliable charging solutions. In the first phase, 500 Mega Chargers will be installed across major highways and urban centers, ensuring better accessibility for EV users. These chargers will feature four charging bays each and will be developed in partnership with Tata Power, ChargeZone, Statiq, and Zeon. To enhance customer convenience, Tata.ev owners will receive priority access, special tariff benefits, and seamless connectivity to all partner CPO chargers via the iRA.ev app. This initiative is part of TATA.ev’s commitment to making EV ownership easier and long-distance travel more convenient.
Speaking at the launch of ‘Open Collaboration 2.0’, Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, said, “Tata.ev has been a driving force in India’s EV revolution, not only by introducing world-class electric vehicles but also by developing a strong nationwide charging network. To accelerate EV adoption, we have launched ‘Open Collaboration 2.0’, with a goal to expand the charging infrastructure to over 400,000 points in the next two years in collaboration with leading CPOs. This initiative will enhance charging speed, reliability, and user experience while also supporting the growth and sustainability of CPOs. As part of this effort, we are introducing Tata.ev Mega Chargers in key cities and highways, alongside Tata.ev Verified Chargers to ensure quality infrastructure. Additionally, we are rolling out a unified Charging Helpline and a seamless payment solution to address customer concerns and make the charging ecosystem more accessible and dependable as EV adoption continues to grow.”
