A couple returning from a late-night party in Nashik, Maharashtra was stopped by cops on Gangapur Road on February 10 at 3.30 AM. The policemen asked the duo to halt their bike suspecting a case of drunk and drive. They opened the camera and filmed the visuals, which showed the girl breaking into an argument for being stopped on the road.

"Kyu bandh kar? Ek second, kya hua? Gaadi ki chaabi nahi le sakte aap. Hamari gaadi hai. Ladies police hai nahi idhr, ruko. Kya hua? (Why stop our bike? One second, tell us what happened first. You can't take our vehicle keys. This is our bike. Lady cop isn't here, wait)", the girl said while raising questions to the policemen who stopped her and her boyfriend during odd hours on Monday.

The girl who appeared drunk got into a heated argument with Nashik cops after she was stopped at the road and questioned in the absence of a lady cop. While it was unclear if her boyfriend was also intoxicated, the cops asked them to halt their bike and surrender the keys.

Also, instead of issuing a challan for helmet-less driving or any other traffic rule violation, the cops engaged in filming the couple.

In the video, one uniformed policeman was seen leaning towards the two-wheeler and trying to pull out its keys. Another asked the girl and her boyfriend their names while filming them on camera.

The girl was identified as Bhoomi, who boarded her male partner's (name heard as Altamaan) bike.

Netizens react

Apart from the boyfriend riding the bike without a helmet, netizens didn't find anything wrong on the couple's side. They claimed policemen unnecessarily stopped the bike to "bully" them.

"Is just being drunk a crime in Nashik? Exactly no crime has happened (here). The person driving is not drunk... In a civilized world, police would have dropped them home instead of making a video. If the guy is sober they had no reason to stop them", internet users reacted as the video went viral on social media.

"Girl is drunk at 3 in the morning, the guys not wearing helmet... Instead of giving them fine & warning police is engage in moral policing", comments read further.

Meanwhile, a few people took note of how the girl argued with the cops and created a ruckus on the road. "The arrogance due to either alcohol consumption or maybe some other intoxicating substance...And the way she talks to men in uniform. @DGPMaharashtra take stringent action", an X user posted.
