Palghar, Maharashtra: Two young men were killed and two others seriously injured in the early hours of Tuesday morning on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway near Boisar. The accident occurred around 1:45 a.m. in front of Bhiwandikar Dhaba within the limits of Haloli village.
The deceased have been identified as Subhash Amrit Vad (25) from Dhekale village and Swapnil Parab (20) from Mann village. Both were on the same motorcycle (MH48AL5705) along with Bhavesh Ganesh Dandule (28) and Raj Santru Mishra (19), also from Mann. The group was traveling from Dhekale to Boisar East on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway late Tuesday when their motorcycle collided with the side of a container truck, throwing them onto the highway. Vad and Parab were tragically crushed under the container's tires and died at the scene. Dandule and Mishra sustained serious injuries.
The unknown container truck driver fled the scene, and a case has been registered against them at the Manor police station. Police have conducted an investigation and took the bodies into custody. The injured were transported to Manor Rural Hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, traffic on the highway was temporarily disrupted, but the Durves Highway Police Station successfully cleared the congestion and restored normal flow.
The accident has left the local community in shock, with many expressing their condolences for the families of the deceased and hopes for a speedy recovery for the injured. Local authorities have urged motorists to exercise extra caution while traveling on the highway, especially during late-night hours.
