Former Delhi minister and AAP MLA Gopal Rai, who won from the Babarpur constituency in the recently concluded Assembly elections, arrived at the AAP headquarters in his old Nano car.

Visuals of AAP leaders traveling in one of the cheapest cars in India have gone viral on social media, sparking mixed reactions from users. Some users, reacting to the video, took a jibe at former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, saying he might soon start using his old blue Wagon R.

"Why are these people doing so much drama? Brother, you people have done so much that you could have bought a car better than Nano," wrote one user.

"After defeat, they have started travelling in an old car. If they lose Punjab, they will take a bowl (for begging) in my hand," wrote another user.

"Look, Delhiites, your vote has reformed AAP. Gopal Rai has brought out his 10-year-old Nano, leaving behind luxury cars. Arvind Kejriwal will soon bring back his old Wagon R too," wrote a third user.

Some users defended Gopal Rai for using the old Nano Car. "Gopal Rai ji used the same Nano car even while serving as a minister and only used a government vehicle when traveling outside Delhi. All his videos are available in the public domain—they can be checked. He was compelled to use a government EV car only after the central government's EV policy was introduced," wrote one user.

Gopal Rai defeated BJP's Anil Kumar Vashisht in the Babarpur constituency by approximately 19,000 votes. In the 2020 Delhi Assembly elections, Gopal Rai won the seat with a margin of over 33,000 votes. In 2013, the AAP leader faced defeat against BJP's Naresh Gaur.

The BJP returned to power in Delhi after 26 years by defeating AAP in the Delhi polls. The party secured 48 out of 70 seats in the union territory, while AAP was reduced to 22 seats, down from the 62 it had won in the previous elections.

The results were announced on February 8, but the BJP has yet to declare its CM face, which is expected to happen after PM Modi returns from his US visit. According to reports, the BJP is likely to hold a meeting on Sunday to elect its leader.
