Anil Kumble and his wife arrived in Prayagraj on Tuesday and took a holy dip on Magh Purnima, a day without VIP protocols. They traveled by boat to the sacred confluence, experiencing the occasion like regular pilgrims.
Earlier, many sports personalities, including Saina Nehwal, Suresh Raina, The Great Khali, and Mohammed Kaif, also visited the Maha Kumbh.
The Maha Kumbh Mela is the world’s largest spiritual gathering, bringing millions of devotees, saints, and tourists to the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers. It happens once every 12 years, with the 2025 event running from January 13 (Paush Purnima) to February 26 (Mahashivratri).
Magh Purnima is one of the holiest days of the Kumbh, when thousands of devotees take a dip in the river to seek blessings and purification. Officials have declared the fair area a 'no-vehicle zone' from 4 AM on Tuesday. From 5 PM onwards, the entire city will also be a no-vehicle zone, except for emergency and essential services.
