Mumbai: The residents of Colaba, led by former BJP corporator Makarand Narwekar, have urged the BMC to prioritise road works. They want roads in poor condition to be taken up first for cement concrete (CC) work, rather than mess with roads still in good shape.

The residents want four roads – Henry Marg, Tilak Marg, Garden Road, and Walton Road – excluded from the CC project in the A-ward, as these roads are in a satisfactory condition and do not require resurfacing.

Former BJP Corporator Makaran Narwekar Raises Concerns

In a letter to civic chief Bhushan Gagrani, Narwekar raised concerns about the ongoing road works in the city, highlighting the growing discontent among residents.

“Citizens across Mumbai are demanding that the BMC should focus on repairing roads in poor condition, rather than unnecessarily digging up well-maintained roads,” he stated.

Narwekar specifically mentioned the opposition from residents of Mount Mary Road in Bandra and D Road in Marine Drive regarding the proposed concreting. Narwekar reminded Gagrani of the assurances made during the budget press conference, where it was stated that the BMC would review road projects upon receiving written feedback.

“I strongly urge you to form a high-level committee to address these concerns and thoroughly review the proposed list of CC roads,” he said.
