Raipur/Dantewada: In Chhattisgarh’s highly disturbed Dantewada district, amidst urban body elections, a security force jawan assigned to be area domination assignment got both of his legs blown up in an improvised anti-personnel pressure mine trigger.
The injured jawan has been airlifted to Raipur in a critical condition.
According to the police the CRPF personnel was on an area domination exercise in the Aranpur police station limits and accidently put foot on an anti-pressure mine laid by Maoists insurgents.
The jawan has been identified as MN Shukla, posted as a head constable in CRPF’s 231 Battalion.
Earlier in the same area, the Naxalites blew up a vehicle carrying 9 jawans and a driver by triggering 50 kg IED planted deep in the road. It led to the death of all security personnel.
Police said a security forces team had been dispatched following an input of presence of armed Maoists in the Aranpur area.
After the incident, the injured jawan was given primary treatment in Dantewada District Hospital and then airlifted to Raipur.
ASP RK Burman informed the media that the jawan has been referred to Raipur and his condition was critical.
