Sanju Samson underwent finger surgery, a week after sustaining an injury during the 5th T20I against England at the Wankhede Stadium, where he was hit by a blistering delivery from Jofra Archer.

Rajasthan Royals' management is on edge as captain Sanju Samson has undergone a finger surgery just 38 days before IPL 2025, after being hit on his right hand on February 2. 

The Rajasthan Royals skipper was struck on the index finger by Jofra Archer, received on-field treatment, and briefly continued batting before being dismissed. Although Dhruv Jurel took over wicket-keeping duties as a precaution, it's now clear that Samson's injury was more severe.

Sanju Samson has been instrumental to Rajasthan Royals' success, leading the team to the playoffs in IPL 2024. With a revamped squad, Rajasthan Royals' hopes of winning their second IPL title hinge on Samson's complete recovery and fitness for the IPL 2025 season.

The 30 year old faces a tight deadline to recover from surgery, with just around 40 days to go before the IPL 2025 begins on March 21. The right hander's participation in Rajasthan Royals' pre-season training session also hangs in the balance.

Sanju Samson was in scintillating form last season, finishing as the team's second-highest run-scorer after Riyan Parag. He achieved a career milestone by surpassing 500 runs and also emerged as the top run-scorer among Indian wicketkeepers, earning him a spot in India's ICC T20 World Cup squad.
