YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia has landed in controversy over his objectionable remarks on parents and sex on comedian Samay Raina's show India's Got Latent. What started as backlash online has now escalated to legal trouble, police complaints, summons, and demands to completely ban the show.
For those unversed, during the latest episode Ranveer asked a contestant, "Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once and stop it forever." Social media influencers Ashish Chanchlani and Apoorva Makhija were also present with Ranveer.

1. Complaint filed in Mumbai
On February 10, a complaint was filed against Ranveer, Apoorva aka The Rebel Kid, Samay, and the organisers of India’s Got Latent. The complaint, lodged with the Mumbai Commissioner and Maharashtra Women’s Commission, accuses them of using abusive language and promoting obscenity on the show. Strict action has been demanded against the the YouTubers.
2. Ranveer, Samay & others booked in Guwahati
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a social media post, on Monday, stated that Guwahati Police has registered an FIR against Ashish, Jaspreet Singh, Apoorva, Ranveer, Samay and others for promoting obscenity and engaging in sexually explicit and vulgar discussion during the show.
3. Maharashtra CM Fadnavis' reaction
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that comedians and influencers should not cross boundaries while reacting to Ranveer-Samay's controversy.
"Certain things have been said and presented in a very wrong manner, as I have come to know... This is absolutely wrong. Everyone has the right to freedom of speech, but our freedom ends where we encroach upon someone else’s freedom. This is not right. I believe that even expression has its limits," Fadnavis told media persons.
He added, "Our society has established certain norms regarding obscenity, and if someone crosses those boundaries, it is a very serious matter. Action should be taken against this."
4. Samay, Ranveer summoned by Mumbai Police
The Mumbai Police summoned Samay and Ranveer to appear before the investigating officer regarding remarks made on India’s Got Latent. Amid the controversy, both have been asked to appear for questioning and to share their side of the story. However, it is not known when the duo has been called for interrogation.
5. Ranveer issues apology
The YouTuber issued an apology amid severe backlash he has been receiving over his crass remarks on the show. Calling it a 'lapse in judgement', Ranveer pleaded people to forgive him and also assured that the sections with the controversial remarks have been removed from the full video.
"My comment wasn't just inappropriate, it wasn't even funny. Comedy is not my forte. I am just here to say sorry. I am not going to give any context or justification or reasoning behind whatever happened. I am just here for an apology," he said.
Ranveer continued, "I personally had a lapse in judgement... Wasn't cool on my part. The podcast is watched by people of all ages and I don't want to be the kind of person that takes that responsibility lightly, and family is the last thing that I would ever disrespect."
6. Cops at Latent studio
According to media reports, Mumbai Police officials reached Samay's India's Got Latent studio on Monday afternoon in connection with the case. A video of a police van outside the studio, which is in Khar, had surfaced on social media.
7. Mumbai Police reaches Ranveer's residence
On Tuesday (February 11), a team of five Mumbai Police officials reached the Andheri residence of Ranveer as a part of their investigation.

8. Ranveer's comment reaches Parliament
After receiving complaints from multiple MPs, a Parliamentary panel on Information Technology is reportedly considering summoning Ranveer. He may be issued a notice requiring his appearance before the panel to address questions related to the controversy.
Priyanka Chaturvedi, Rajya Sabha MP from Shiv Sena (UBT), stated that she would raise the issue. On X, she wrote, "Any abusive language in the name of comedy content crosses limits is not acceptable . You get a platform, that doesn't mean that you will utter anything. He is someone with millions of subscribers, every political has sat in his podcast. PM has given him an award... As a member of standing committee of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, I will raise this issue."
9. B Praak skips Ranveer's podcast
Singer B Praak announced that he has cancelled his appearance on Ranveer's podcast amid the outrage over the Youtuber's objectionable comments. The singer called Ranveer's statements 'pathetic' and urged comedians to save Indian culture.
"I was supposed to go to Beer Biceps' podcast, but I have now cancelled it. Why? Do you know what kind of pathetic thinking and words are being used? Samay Raina ke show pe jo ho raha hai, yeh hamara Indian culture nahi hai. This is not our culture at all," he said.
10. Controversial episode removed from YouTube
The controversial episode, featuring Ranveer and Apoorva among others, has been removed. Reportedly, YouTube blocked the episode in India after government's order.
Several social media users shared screenshots which shows that the video has ben pulled down from the platform. "Video unavailable. This content is not available on this country domain due to a legal complaint from the government," the text on screen read.
