Navi Mumbai: After a week of pursuing the road rage incident of Kharghar, Navi Mumbai police has finally nabbed one of the two alleged accused involved in the case.

The arrested accused has been identified as Rehan Shaikh (20) while the wanted accused is identified as Faizan Shaikh (20). Both residents of Nagpada and Agripada respectively, were traced to BKC wherein the police managed to nab Rehan and Faizan managed to give a skip. Both of them worked as delivery boys. The arrested accused was the pilion rider and the one who hit, is still at large.

About The Case

IT Professional Shivkumar Roshanlal Sharma (45), was killed on February 3 at around 8.30 pm following a fight over overtaking. "After analysing the CCTV footages and recording statements of the eyewitnesses, we have found that on the day of the incident, Sharma overtook the accused twice and while overtaking, he spat over them which angered the duo. Sharma along with the accused stopped between Belpada and Utsav Chowk and started arguing which led to a fight in the course of which Sharma kicked one of the accused following which the accused took his helmet and hit Sharma on his head, multiple times," One of the officers privy to the investigations, said.

Sharma who did not have any external injury, rode his bike to Kharghar police station and informed them about the assault and shared the video of the assault with the police after which he suddenly collapsed. The police rushed Sharma to hospital where he was declared dead.

The accused who were unaware that Sharma had died due to the assault, went ahead and attended Ijetama that was being conducted in Kharghar and left the place by 10.30 pm to their respective residence.

The arrested accused have been handed over to Kharghar police by Navi Mumbai crime branch. The police are hopeful to arrest the second accused soon.
