Jaipur: In a bid to promote film shootings in Rajasthan, the state government is working on to bring a film policy. The proposed policy is likely to be unveiled in the upcoming IIFA awards to be held on March 8-9 in Jaipur.

Rajasthan is one of the most sought after destinations for the shooting of historical films as the state has some of the best historical locations, but now the government wants that films of other genres should be filmed here as well.

Recently, a meeting of officials of the tourism department and film production experts held in Jaipur to deliberate on the state's film policy.

Besides this, the tourism department is studying the policies of other states as well, who are giving incentives to promote film shootings in their states and have got good results.

Tourism Secretary of the state, Ravi Jain said that the aim of the state government is to attract not only Bollywood but also big Hollywood production houses for film shooting in Rajasthan. For this, there is a plan to make Rajasthan's film policy more attractive and tempting.

'We are going through the film policies of states like Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa and Madhya Pradesh and have sought suggestions of the experts of film industry as well as a strong and empowered film policy is needed to promote film shooting in Rajasthan,' said Ravi Jain.

The government plans to launch the state's new film policy during the upcoming IIFA Awards event scheduled to held in Jaipur on March 8-9th.

The state government wants Rajasthan to get maximum screen time, so that the state's scenic spots, culture and historical heritage can get more space in the film industry. In return, incentives will be given to producers and film production houses who spend more time in Rajasthan for shooting and provide opportunities to local artists and technicians.
