Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Athletes from Madhya Pradesh continued their stellar performance at the Uttarakhand National Games 2025, winning 3 gold and 1 silver medal in Modern Pentathlon and 1 gold and 2 silver medals in athletics on Monday. With 58 medals including 24 gold, 16 silver and 18 bronze, MP secured the top four in the medal tally.
In the men's pole vault event, Dev Meena delivered a historic performance, securing gold medal with a 5.32m jump, setting a new national record. The previous record of 5.31m was held by Tamil Nadu's Subramani Shiva (National Games 2022).
In the men’s shot put event, Samardeep Singh Gill won silver medal with a throw of 19.38m, narrowly missing gold by just 36cm. The event was won by Olympian Tajinderpal Singh Toor. In the women’s 3000m steeplechase event, Manju Yadav secured silver medal, missing gold by 22.07 seconds.
Madhya Pradesh also had a medal-rich day in modern pantathlon. Rama Sonkar won gold in women's individual biathle event. MP women's team (Rama Sonkar, Kanak Shri Dhariwal, and Manvi Srivastava) won gold medal in the women's team biathle event.
State men's team (Yash Bathre, Aditya Kushwaha and Devendra Markam) won gold in men's team biathle event. In the mixed biathle event, Rama Sonkar and Aditya Kushwaha fought hard but had to settle for the Silver medal.
Sandhya Tiwari won her league match in women’s 52-kg category and secured a place in the quarter-finals. Athletes will compete for medals in mallakhamb, canoeing & kayaking, shooting (shotgun), fencing, gymnastics, athletics, modern pentathlon, judo, and Wrestling on Tuesday.
