Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): 940 kg of ganja, 52 explosive bombs, 12 two-wheelers, and eight sharp-edged weapons were confiscated in a crackdown by the Special Task Force (STF) of Jabalpur. The operation took place in Dindori district’s Padariya Sakal village on Monday.
During the operation, the STF arrested four accused, with some women also found to be involved. The seized explosive bombs were reportedly used for poaching wild animals. Efforts are underway to track down other absconding members of the gang. The search operation is ongoing to dismantle the entire network.
According to information, the breakthrough came after crucial leads were gathered from Chandrapur, Maharashtra about a gang involved in drug smuggling and illegal poaching. The leads eventually lead to an extensive 10-day search operation across the forests of Katni, Mandla, and Dindori in Madhya Pradesh. The STF, in collaboration with the Tiger Strike Force, Forest Department, and District Police, conducted targeted raids on hidden hideouts deep in the jungle.
In the crackdown, STF managed to bust the gang in the jungles of Padariya Sakal village in Dindori district. The raid led to seizure of 940 kg of ganja, 52 explosive bombs, 12 two-wheelers, and eight sharp-edged weapons. They also arrested four suspects, one of the members is absconding. Reports suggest that the seized explosive bombs were used for hunting wild animals.
Were involved in wildlife organ trafficking
Investigations have revealed that the gang’s smuggling network spans across Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Maharashtra. Authorities have also found links to illegal tiger poaching and wildlife organ trafficking. SP Rajesh Bhadouria (STF, Bhopal) stated that efforts are underway to track down other absconding members of the gang. The search operation is ongoing to dismantle the entire network.
