Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The aviation department is working on a proposal to have an aircraft scrapping centre in the state. Under this, state government will give all the help to the company setting up plane scrap centre near any airport of the state.
Currently, no Indian state has such a facility. If the proposal sees the light of the day, then Madhya Pradesh will be the first state to have any such a facility with help of a private investor.
Aviation department sources said several rounds of discussion had taken place on the proposal related to the scrapping centre. The final decision will be taken shortly. The centre will create job opportunities and thus give impetus to state economy.
A senior department official said proposal related to the scrapping centre was part of the aviation policy, which is under preparation. The proposal speaks about providing necessary logistics support to the company interested in investment in this regard. For instance, land on lease, incentives and other kind of logistics assistance will be provided to interested company.
Industry status
At present, no scrap facility is considered equivalent to the industry. But the proposal of aviation department promises to give industry status to the plane scrapping centre.
