Even as the lab reports of the blurred images of registration number of accused in Kharghar murder is still awaited, the police are hopeful to trace the accused soon with the help of technical evidence they are working on. The police have have traced the timing of the accused entering Navi Mumbai and leaving Navi Mumbai.
"Every team is assigned with different tasks. With the help of cctv footages obtained, we have been able to find the duo entering and exiting Navi Mumbai. We are focusing of technical evidence and investigating pocket by pocket in the areas we suspect the accused are residents of," one of the officers privy to the investigations said.
In further investigations, police have found the sequence of the fight that happened. "The victim had overtaken the accused twice which led to an argument between the two scooty borne accused and victim Shivkumar Sharma. The argument escalated to a fight and during the fight, Sharma first kicked one of the duo and then the accused assaulted Sharma with helmet," the officer said, adding, "They had been no instance of mobile lyinching or communal fight in this incident as it is purely a case of road rage." The duo were seen leaving Kharghar at around 10.30 pm.
Even as a witness had shot the video of the assault, the scooty of the accused was not captured in the video. Neither has any of the cctvs captures the registration number. "The lab results of unblurring the cctv footage for a clearer view of the registration number is still awaited. We are not depending on the lab results as even if one digit of the number goes wrong, the investigation will change its route. As of now, we are completely depending on the technical analysis," he further said.
Mumbai police along with Kharghar police and the crime branch has formed 10 teams to hunt for the two men who bludgeoned an IT Professional on Sunday night over an overtake issue in Kharghar on the road between Belpada and Utsav Chowk. The deceased man identified as Shivkumar Roshanlal Sharma (45) worked as Project manager at a firm in Vashi and resided at Swapnapurti building in Kharghar sector 36.
On Sunday night, Sharma was returning home from Vashi on his motorcycle at around 8.30 pm. After he reached the road between Belpada and Utsav Chowk, the altercation happened. During the fight, one of the accused started assaulting Sharma with the helmet and gave multiple blows on the head. There were no external injuries. After the assault, Sharma rode his bike for close to a kilometre to reach Kharghar police station. At the police station, he told that he was assaulted and then he suddenly collapsed. The police took him to hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
