AAP (Aam Aadmi Party) lost its decade-long grip on power in Delhi Legislative Assembly on Saturday (February 8). At the time of publishing of this story, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had 49 seats (wins+ leads) in its kitty. Although all results were yet to be declared officially by the Election Commission of India, it was clear that BJP was going to form government in Delhi after a hiatus of 27 years. Among the top leaders of AAP, only Atishi managed to retain her seat. Rest of the party stalwarts, including Arvind Kejriwal himself failed to defend their forts against BJP onslaught. Here's how the top leadership of AAP fared in Delhi Elections 2025
Atishi (AAP) vs Ramesh Bidhuri (BJP) (Kalkaji)
The sitting Chief Minister of Delhi defeated BJP's Ramesh Bidhuri in Kalkaji by a margin of 3521 votes. At the end of counting of votes, Atishi had 52154 votes while Bidhuri had 48633 votes. Congress' Alka Lamba managed 4392 votes.
Arvind Kejriwal (AAP) vs Parvesh Singh (BJP) (New Delhi)
BJP's Parvesh Singh proved to be a giant killer by defeating former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal. Singh bagged 30088 votes while Kejriwal could manage 25999. Interestingly, Singh's winning margin (4089) was less than the votes secured by Congress' Sandeep Dikshit (4568). In other words, Kejriwal could have won the election in Dikshit's absence if all his votes had gone to his tally.
Manish Sisodia (AAP) vs Tarvinder Singh Marwah (BJP) (Jangpura)
AAP's Manish Sisodia narrowly lost to BJP's Tarvinder Singh Marwah with a margin of 675 votes. Sisodia got 38184 votes while Marwah got 38859.
Gopal Rai (AAP) vs Anil Kumar Vashisht (BJP) (Babarpur)
Gopal Rai defeated Anil Kumar Vashisht convincingly with a margin of 18994 votes. Gopal Rai bagged 76192 votes while Vashisht could only bag 57198 votes. Congress' Mohammed Ishraq Khan could only bag 8797 votes.
