Mumbai: A 36-year-old man was killed, while his teen nephew suffered injuries after an unidentified speeding four-wheeler hit their scooter on the Western Express Highway (WEH) and fled.

About The Mishap

The fatal mishap took place on Thursday when the deceased, Ramesh Zore, and his nephew Naresh, 18, were returning from Kandivali West after offering condolences as one of their relatives recently passed away.

According to the FIR, Zore, a resident of Ghatkopar West, with Naresh riding pillion were proceeding towards Ghatkopar around 1 am. As they approached the southbound lane of the Dindoshi flyover on the WEH in Goregaon East, a speeding four-wheeler struck their scooter, causing both of them to fall and lose consciousness. The bystanders informed the police, who then transported the duo to Trauma Hospital in Jogeshwari.

At 2.11 am, Zore was declared dead, while Naresh regained consciousness later. However, he could not explain exactly how the accident occurred due to the sudden collision. A case has been registered against an unidentified individual under sections 106(1) (causing death by negligence), 125(a) (act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 281 (rash driving) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act.

A cop said, “There is no CCTV footage available from the accident site. We are checking if there are any cameras nearby.”
