A 65-year-old pedestrian died after being hit by a tempo in Thane on Wednesday evening. The deceased has been identified as Raghunath Kadam, who lived with family members in Thane.

The incident occurred on Saket Road in Thane, within the jurisdiction of the Rabodi police station, at approximately 8 PM on Wednesday when Kadam was heading to Saket Road for some work, and a tempo hit him from behind. The tempo fled the scene without providing him with medical assistance.

Locals alerted the local police about it. He was taken to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital, where his treatment is underway. The police said that the doctor called Kadam's family members about the accident. Thereafter, they approached the hospital and later shifted him to a private hospital, where he was pronounced dead during treatment.

Hemant Patil, Senior Police Inspector from Rabodi Police Station said, "We were reviewing the CCTV footage on a nearby road. We will try to obtain the registration number of the tempo through the CCTV footage and send it to the RTO office to identify the owner of the tempo. Further investigation is underway."
