Tapti Basin Mega Recharge Project
The Tapti Basin Mega Recharge Project, a joint initiative of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, aims to irrigate 1,23,082 hectares in Madhya Pradesh and 2,34,706 hectares in Maharashtra. Benefiting Burhanpur, Nepanagar, Khaknar, and Khalwa tehsils, it was redesigned from a 66 TMC storage dam to a groundwater recharge model to minimize displacement and environmental impact. The project includes a diversion weir at Kharia Gutighat and multiple irrigation canals.
