Two newborn children were found dead and abandoned in the city of Bhiwandi and Thane on Thursday. The police have stated that they are tracing the parents who abandoned them.
A 32-week-old newborn girl was found dead, abandoned by the roadside in a garbage heap in Bhiwandi on Thursday. The incident came to light when passersby discovered the dead infant in the garbage in the Panjarapool area near Shivaji Chowk in Bhiwandi. The police were alerted, and a team from Nizampura Police Station rushed to the spot. They found the dead newborn baby girl and immediately took her to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Bhiwandi, where the doctor declared her dead. Authorities are treating the case with utmost seriousness and have launched an investigation to identify the mother and understand the circumstances behind the abandonment, the police said.
Second Incident Reported in Thane:
A newborn baby boy was found dead, abandoned on the roof of a window grill in a building in Thane on Thursday. The incident occurred at Kaiunisha Apartment in Kisan Nagar, located in Wagale Estate, Thane, when a resident discovered the infant lying on the roof of the window grill.
The police rushed to the spot after receiving information. They pulled the infant down using a ladder and took him to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital, where the doctor declared him dead.
Guljarilal Phadtare, Senior Police Inspector from Srinagar Police Station, said, "The DNA sample of the infant was taken and sent to the laboratory, where it will be preserved to trace the parents if suspected. We have checked all 28 habitat rooms in the building and inquired about the infant. During the probe, we learned that none of the women in the building had been pregnant. It is possible that someone from outside came to the terrace and left the baby on the terrace divider, intending to flee. However, the baby fell down. Further investigation is underway."
The police have lodged a case under Section 94 (hiding the birth of a child by secretly disposing of the dead body) and Section 91 (whoever attempts to prevent a baby from being born alive or causes the baby to die after birth) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita against an unknown person.
