Former Real Madrid player Sergio Ramos has signed a one year contract with the Mexican side Monterrey also commonly known as Rayados. The Mexican club is one of three Mexican teams that will participate in the first edition of the expanded Club World Cup which is set to be played in the US next summer.
Sergio Ramos would be looking to redeem his footballing career after a long hiatus. The Spanish player would be waring the number 93 for his new club. The defender has opted to wear No. 93 in honor of the 93rd-minute header he scored to tie the 2014 UEFA Champions League final against their rivals Atlético de Madrid.
The Monterrey team President revealed that they have been trying to sign the Spanish defender since last summer. The Monterrey President also mentioned that Ramos' experience and leadership qualities would bring crucial inputs to the team.
Sergio Ramos was linked to numerous clubs which include clubs from Saudi Arabia, Argentina and USA. But the Mexican club got hold of the Spanish star.
“We have been trying to sign him since last summer, but we did not come to terms and we tried again in this new window,” said Monterrey’s team president Jose Antonio Noriega. “The team needs him, he has quality, enormous experience, enormous personality and he is an undisputed leader.”

Sergio Ramos is considered one of the greatest central defenders in the history of world football. He was a multiple-time champion with Real Madrid and PSG and won the FIFA World Cup with Spain in 2010, as well as two UEFA European Championships in 2008 and 2012.
With his leadership, defensive strength, offensive ability, and winning mentality, Ramos joins Monterrey aiming to make history with the Mexican team. Ramos would be looking forward to deliver for his new team and embark on a new journey.
