Raipur: Dr. Rakesh Gupta, who serves as the Chairperson of the Medical Cell of the Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CPCC), has levelled serious allegations regarding extensive corruption occurring within the tender process associated with the construction of medical colleges in the state.

His claims suggest that there are significant irregularities occurring in the site selection process and awarding tenders that need to be addressed urgently.

According to Dr. Rakesh Gupta, a troubling open nexus of corruption has been exposed through the issuance of an integrated tender valued at a staggering Rs 1020.60 crore.

This tender was released without the necessary completion of the site selection process for four newly proposed medical college buildings located in Manendragarh, Geedam, Janjgir-Champa, and Kabirdham.

The lack of proper site selection raises serious questions about the legitimacy and transparency of the entire tendering process.

Furthermore, Gupta has pointed fingers at the current Health Minister, Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, who also holds the position of ex-officio Chairman of the Chhattisgarh Medical Services Corporation Limited.

He alleges that under the minister’s patronage, there is a blatant disregard for established rules and regulations. Officers and members of the technical committee are reportedly ignoring protocols, which has led to significant financial transactions being facilitated without appropriate oversight.

Dr. Rakesh Gupta emphasized that the corrupt activities associated with the Chhattisgarh Medical Services Corporation (CGMSC) have already garnered media attention and are being further exacerbated under the current Health Minister's influence.

He has called for immediate action, demanding that the entire tender process be scrapped entirely. Gupta insists that a new tendering process must be initiated, one that adheres to principles of transparency and accountability, ensuring that public funds are utilized effectively and ethically.
