Kolkata: Parents of RG Kar rape and murder incident on Wednesday had urged everyone to hit the streets on February 9 as it is the birthday of the victim.

“It has been six months that the brutal incident took place and we are yet to get justice. We will not break down but will request everyone to hold a silent march demanding justice for my daughter,” said the victim’s mother.

In a video message the victim’s parents said that this would have been their daughter’s 32 nd birthday.

“We are the most unfortunate parents that whatever my daughter had achieved got destroyed. When she was doing her MBBS, her birthday was celebrated in the medical college and when she was doing MD her birthday was celebrated at RG Kar hospital. Today she is not there with us. We request all hospitals both private and government to light lamps in her name on her birthday,” further mentioned the victim’s mother also adding that she will continue with her fight till she gets ‘justice’ for her daughter.

Notably, the session court on January 20 had order convict Sanjoy Roy lifetime imprisonment for the rape and murder incident.
