Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday announced that Deucha Pachami, Asia’s 2nd largest coal mine will be operational from Thursday amid presence of several industrialists of the country and Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren.

Talking at the 8th Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS), Mamata also announced the formation of a new state-level Investment Synergy Committee.

“This committee is being made for ease of work. This committee will resolve the challenges at various sectors including land, fire safety, finance, MSME, housing, agriculture, and industry. The committee will meet every fortnight; because we do not want any delays. We care the people, we dare the delays. After Deucha Pachami project is ready then there will not be any problem of power in the state,” said Mamata.

The West Bengal Chief Minister also thanked Mukesh Ambani as he promised to make Kolkata hub for Jio.

“We have received investment proposals worth Rs 90.51 lakh crore during the last seven business summits held in Kolkata. Bengal has the potential for investments. Our GDP has grown 3.9 times and capital expenditure 13.85 times. I have also urged the Tata group for a direct flight from Kolkata to Europe. We are number one in women empowerment and MSME,” said Mamata.

Mamata also added that our states started holding business summits after Bengal had pioneered it.
