Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Western Railway returned a lost trolley bag containing gold ornaments worth Rs 6.80 lakh to its rightful owner at Nalasopara station.

"The incident took place at around 3:00 PM on February 1, when Head Constables Raosaheb Majre and Sanjay Salunkhe, along with MSF officers Sadashiv Panchage and Paras Rathod, were on duty at Nalasopara railway station. During their routine inspection, they noticed an unattended red trolley bag on the platform. Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Vinod Kumar Sharma took charge of the situation and brought the bag to the station master's office. In the presence of Station Master Sharad Kelshikar, the bag was inspected following standard procedures and was found to contain valuable gold ornaments," said an official of Western Railway.

"Meanwhile, a woman, later identified as Archana Arjun Bujad, arrived at Nalasopara station with her daughter, searching for the lost bag. She explained that she had been traveling from Vasai to Dahanu Road when, amid the rush of passengers at Nalasopara, her trolley bag accidentally fell onto the platform as the train departed. Realizing her loss, she got off at Virar station and quickly returned to Nalasopara to search for her belongings," the official further added.

Upon verification, the bag was found to contain gold jewelry, including bangles (30 grams), two mangalsutras (25 grams each), and a gold ring (5 grams), along with sarees and other clothes. The total weight of the gold ornaments was approximately 85 grams, with an estimated market value of Rs 6.80 lakh.

"After confirming her ownership through verification procedures, the RPF team safely returned the bag to Archana Arjun Bujad. Overwhelmed with gratitude, she expressed her sincere appreciation for the prompt efforts of the RPF team of Western Railway," said the official.

"I was extremely panicked when I lost my bag, but I am truly thankful to the RPF team for their quick response and honesty in returning my valuables," she told the RPF team after getting her bag back.

A senior official of Western Railway stated that the recovery and return of the lost belongings were carried out under Operation Amanat, an initiative by Western Railway's RPF to reunite passengers with their misplaced valuables.
