A 12-year-old boy, lost his life in an accident wherein he was hit by a dumper while he was going back home from Tuition in his cycle. The deceased boy identified as Shivam Krishna Bhatt, lost his life after being hit by a speeding dumper while riding his bicycle in CBD Sector-8B on Wednesday around 11 am. Following the accident, the dumper driver abandoned the vehicle at the spot and fled, and CBD police have launched a search for him.
The boy was a resident of Ishan Building in Artist Village, CBD Sector-8 and was a sixth-grade student at People's Education Society School in CBD. On Wednesday morning around 10 am, he had gone to Sector-4 for his tuition class as usual. After finishing his tuition, he was heading towards his home at sector 8.
As he reached near Nanesh Hospital in Sector-8B, a speeding dumper, which had come to the area for road repair work, hit him. Shivam sustained severe injuries and was immediately rushed to the hospital, but he was declared dead on arrival.
“The boy was instructed by the parents to always take the internal road and not the main road to come back home from tuitions as there is lesser movement of vehicles. The internal road was his routine way of travelling but due to road maintenance work happening, the dumper was present in the area which collided with the boy,” a police officer from CBD Belapur police station said.
It is speculated that the vehicle had no cleaner and the driver was probably focussed at the left side of the road as there were many cars parked on the narrow road. The boy who was coming from the right side of the road, is assumed to have missed by the driver. The residents of the area are planning to approach the police demanding a ban on heavy vehicles in the internal roads.
The boy has an elder sister studying in class IX. While the father has a small business, mother is a home maker.
