Bengaluru: A tea shop owner reportedly carried out 150-200 house break-ins across four states. He also claimed to have gifted his girlfriend a Rs 3 crore bungalow. The tea shop owner, Panchakshari Sangayya Swamy, was arrested last week in Bengaluru for allegedly a house break-in, reported The Times of India.
Swamy reportedly fled with 400 grams of gold and silver. As per the TOI reports, the police had recovered 180 grams of gold and 150 grams of silver for Swamy. Meanwhile, his accomplice from Uttar Pradesh is still absconding. The tea shop owner claimed that the remaining amount of gold and silver was with his partner.
Swamy was a divorcee and is living with his govt employee mother in Solapur. He reportedly operated in Rajasthan, Telangana, Gujarat, and Maharashtra before his arrest in Bengaluru. He last visited Karnataka's capital in 2010 to carry out a robbery.
Swamy has a long criminal record. He was arrested in Gujarat in 2016. After his release, he continued his criminal activities. Swamy was also arrested by the Mumbai Police several times. Mumbai cops confirmed his links with struggling actors and extravagant gifts.
Swamy told the Bengaluru police that it was his first visit to the city in several years.
