New Delhi/Shivpuri: In a first, a female CRPF officer is set to get married at the country's most prestigious venue, the Rashtrapati Bhavan. The female CRPF assistant commandant, posted as a PSO at the Bhavan, will marry an assistant commandant posted in Jammu and Kashmir on February 12.

Rashtrapati Bhavan has witnessed the presence of distinguished personalities at weddings, but this is the first time it is hosting the wedding of an officer. While prima facie, it suggests that the wedding will involve only a set number of relatives and friends who would be proofed before being given entry. Official notice from the Rashtrapati Bhavan is yet to arrive.

According to information, the female officer, identified as Poonam Gupta, a PSO at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, is set to tie the knot with Avneesh Kumar, an Assistant Commandant posted in Jammu and Kashmir. The wedding is set to take place on February 12 with a limited number of guests.

Sources reveal that President Droupadi Murmu had been highly impressed by Poonam’s conduct and service. Upon learning about her wedding, she arranged for the ceremony at the Mother Teresa Crown Complex inside Rashtrapati Bhavan. The event will have a select guest list, with necessary formalities underway to grant entry permissions.

Poonam's impeccable education background

Poonam holds a mathematics degree and a postgraduate degree in English literature. She also completed a B.Ed. from Jiwaji University, Gwalior, and studied at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Sheopur. She secured the 81st rank in the UPSC CAPF exam in 2018 and joined CRPF as an Assistant Commandant. In 2024, she led the CRPF women's contingent in the Republic Day parade.
