British musician Ed Sheeran enthralled the audience in Pune with a captivating performance on Thursday night, kick-starting his six-city India tour.

Sheeran, best known for songs such as "Tides," "The A Team," "Perfect," "Happier," "Don't Call Me Baby," "Castle on the Hill," "Galway Girl," and "Eyes Closed," among others, took the stage wearing a T-shirt that said "Pune" to celebrate the historical city.

During the concert, the musician shared that he had performed twice in India, both times in Mumbai, and was now excited to bring his music to other cities. He also expressed that every visit makes him feel like a tourist exploring this beautiful country and that he is always grateful for the opportunity to perform for the people of India.

Singer-actor Dot., best known for "The Archies," opened the show.

Meanwhile, Sheeran also met with the England cricket team backstage, including their skipper Jos Buttler, speedster Mark Wood, all-rounder Liam Livingstone and others.

The official X (formerly Twitter) handle of England Cricket posted pictures of their meeting and wrote, "Thank you to @edsheeran for inviting our squad and backroom staff to the opening night of his India tour in Pune."

"After catching up backstage, Ed and @josbuttler swapped shirts - with Jos now the proud owner of a signed @IpswichTown top," the post added.

The England team is in Pune for the T20I against India, with the match scheduled to be played at the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium on Friday night.
