Bengaluru: A shocking incident surfaced from Karnataka's capital Bengaluru where a 24-year-old girl underwent a traumatising experience after two men allegedly tried to rape her. The incident took place in the wee hours of Monday in east Bengaluru. The girl was saved after locals came to her rescue.
The girl lives in the Kammanahalli area of the city and is an undergraduate student at a private college. She hails from the northeastern state. The victim lodged a police complaint against the two unknown men.
The girl booked a cab at around 2 am and was going to bring a friend from Whitefield to her house, reported The Times Of India.
She had to walk from her house for a few metres to reach the vehicle she had booked. As per the report, as soon as the girl got into the car, two men tried to enter the vehicle forcefully. The girl objected to them. An argument also broke out between the driver of the car and one of the men. Meanwhile, the girl came out of the car and started to run towards her house. The other stranger reportedly chased her and managed to catch her from the neck.
In the police complaint, the girl alleged that the man touched her inappropriately and sexually harassed her. Meanwhile, the driver was busy fighting the second man. The locals rushed to the spot after hearing the girl's screams. After seeing the locals coming, the attackers fled from the spot. The girl then called helpline 112. The police rushed to the spot.
On the girl's complaint, a case has reportedly been registered under BNS Sections 74 (assault or use of criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 75 (sexual harassment), reported TOI.
The girl reportedly approached the police after appearing for an exam the next day. The police have started an investigation into the matter to nab the two men.
