Charan, a first-year inter-college student of Narayana College in Andhra Pradesh's Anantapur, died by suicide after jumping from the third floor on Thursday. A horrifying video of the incident has surfaced online.
The video shows the student leaving the room during class. He walked towards the ledge unperturbed and jumped off. According to CCTV footage, the incident occurred around 11 am.
The teacher and classmates were in a state of shock after watching the student jump. The students rushed from their respective benches to ascertain what really happened.
Boy Returned From Sankranti Holidays: Police
Anantapur Rural sub-divisional police officer T Vekateshulu said the boy just returned to college from Sankranti holidays on Thursday morning and died by suicide at 11:55 am.
"After the holidays, this boy came to the college around 9:30 am on Thursday. While the class was going on, around 11:55 am, he suddenly came out from the classroom and jumped from the third floor," Venkateshulu told PTI.
Hospital Declared Student Dead On Arrival
Immediately, the college management shifted the injured boy to a local hospital where doctors examined him and declared that he was dead. Police said the intermediate student hailed from Ramapuram village of Batthenapalli mandal in Sri Sathyasai District.
The reason that led the student to take this extreme step is yet to be ascertained. Police reached the spot after being notified about the incident. An investigation has been launched into the matter.
Police are taking a complaint from the boy's parents to register a case and investigate further.
