Woman Falls Prey To Task Scam, Loses ₹4.74L
Indore (Madhya Pradesh): In yet another case of online fraud, a woman was conned of a whopping Rs 4.74 lakh, an official said on Monday. The victim fell prey to the scam after being promised an online part-time job by an unknown caller. The scam involved completing various tasks, promising a commission on completing them.
Additional DCP (zone-1) Alok Kumar Sharma said that the woman, a resident of Sadar Bazar area, got a message from an unknown caller about a part-time job. Initially, she ignored the message, but the con woman introduced herself as Gayatri, HR of Rent.com Company and assured her that there would be no financial loss and she would get a commission ranging from Rs 1800 to Rs 4000 for work from home.
Gayatri shared her assistant Deepshikha’s number with the victim who told her that she had to give ratings to different advertisements. Following her instructions, the woman paid Rs 10,000 initially for training. She completed the tasks as instructed and got money in small instalments.
Later they lured her through an offer that if she sent Rs24241, she would get Rs 40000. She did so and got the amount. After winning her trust, the fraudsters lured her with an anniversary plan and she deposited Rs 2 lakh and after that some more money.
When the crooks asked her for Rs 5 lakh she became suspicious and approached the cyber desk of zone-1, which is currently investigating the matter. However , the woman ended up losing Rs 4.74 lakh. Additional DCP Sharma has urged the public to exercise caution and verify the authenticity of online job offers before making any payments and issued an advisory in public interest.
Ammonia Leakage: Driver Booked For Abandoning Vehicle
Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The unidentified driver of a tanker truck was booked for endangering people's lives after he abandoned the vehicle following leakage of aqueous ammonia it was ferrying, a police official said on Monday.
The police also registered a case against the unidentified driver of a mini truck for striking the tanker truck, resulting in the breaking of valve and leaking of chemical solution. DCP Vinod Kumar Meena said that the incident occurred on Bypass Road on Sunday evening when a tanker, carrying aqueous ammonia, was en route to Gwalior from a factory in Pithampur.
The tanker was hit by another vehicle from the rear, resulting in the chemical solution leaking. Due to the leak, many persons suffered irritation in their eyes and difficulty in breathing, including police personnel who reached the spot due to the prolonged exposure to the leakage. They were rushed to the hospital and were later discharged from the hospital. However, they are under monitoring for their safety.
Additional DCP Alok Kumar Sharma said that the unidentified driver of the tanker has been booked under section 125 (act of endangering the life of people) of BNS and police are searching for him while another driver of a truck was booked under accidental sections. Aqueous ammonia is used in water treatment, refrigeration and different industries.
