Dispur: The office of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has issued a statement on X (formerly Twitter) to quash rumors about the export of elephants from the state. The post categorically denies any involvement in the alleged export, stating that "no elephants have been transported from Assam in the recent past."

In a recent X post (formerly Twitter), the office account of the Chief Minister Of Assam debunked the ongoing rumours about elephants being exported from Assam. The post read: "It is hereby clarified that no elephants have been transported from Assam in the recent past. Certain news items and social media posts published linking Assam to such activities are completely unwarranted and false."

The controversy began when Congress's Assam unit chief Bhupen Borah accused the Chief Minister of sending Assam elephants to industrialist Mukesh Ambani's Vantara animal rescue centre in Gujarat. Borah claimed that the relocation was an attempt to appease Ambani and that the decision was "politically motivated."

However, according to a report by India Today revealed that the elephants in question are not from Assam, but rather belong to private owners in neighbouring Arunachal Pradesh. The owners have made private arrangements to send the elephants to Gujarat.

The Chief Minister's office has urged the public to disregard baseless rumors and rely on verified information. By setting the record straight, the government has demonstrated its commitment to transparency and animal welfare.
