Bijnor: Moradabad police rescued a woman, the daughter of an ex-councillor, who declared on the social media site X (formerly Twitter) that her family was holding her captive, mentioning the chief minister, director general of police (DGP), and additional director general of police (ADG).
The 22-year-old woman is from Agwanpur, situated in the Civil Lines area of Moradabad. After being freed from alleged 'captivity,' the woman filed a formal complaint against her three brothers, claiming that they had confined her in their home.
In her statement to the police, she noted that she was a college graduate and was in a relationship with a 24-year-old man from a village in the Pakbara area, sharing her wish to marry him.
Nevertheless, when her family found out about her plans, she was said to have been confined to the house.
According to report by Times Of India, Civil Lines station house officer (SHO) Manish Saxena said, "We received information through a social media post about the 22-year-old woman being held captive. Upon speaking with her, the woman denied being held hostage but said she was threatened by her brothers. She also confirmed that she was an adult." During the conversation with her, the woman refuted being held against her will but asserted that her siblings had threatened her. She additionally confirmed that she was of legal age.
