Mahindra’s latest electric SUVs, the BE 6 and XEV 9e, have achieved remarkable 5-star safety ratings in Bharat NCAP crash tests. The BE 6 excelled with 31.97 out of 32 for adult occupant protection and 45 out of 49 for child safety. Similarly, the XEV 9e impressed with a flawless 32 out of 32 for adult protection and an equally strong 45 out of 49 for child safety.
Mahindra’s BE 6 and XEV 9e electric SUVs are built on the cutting-edge INGLO platform, designed for superior stability and safety. By positioning the battery at a low center of gravity, the platform improves handling and counters the traditionally high center of gravity in SUVs. The battery pack, integrated into the underbody, forms a robust protective cage around the passenger cabin. With ultra-high-strength boron steel and reinforced front structures, the INGLO platform is engineered to withstand extreme conditions and rigorous crash tests, prioritizing passenger and battery safety.
Complementing this is Mahindra's advanced MAIA technology, which powers the active safety systems. Both eSUVs feature a Level 2+ ADAS suite with five radars and a vision camera, offering functionalities like lane centering, emergency steering assist, blind spot detection, and automatic emergency braking. Additionally, they come equipped with a 360-degree camera, VisionX AR heads-up display, blind view monitor, secure 360 live view, TPMS, and seven airbags, ensuring a comprehensive safety package.
R Velusamy, President - Automotive Technology and Product Development, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., and Joint Managing Director, Mahindra Electric Automobile, said, “The BE 6 and XEV 9e mark the start of a new era not only for Mahindra, but also for automotive safety in India. Built on INGLO architecture and powered by the most powerful mind in the automotive world – MAIA, BE 6 and XEV 9e are engineered to set new standards on all fronts of the automotive experience. The results of the Bharat-NCAP tests are a testament to our commitment to safety and proof that we at Mahindra remain at the forefront of automotive safety, with a desire to continually push the envelope.”
Mahindra continues to strengthen its reputation for safety with the BE 6 and XEV 9e joining its lineup of 5-star-rated vehicles, as per the latest Bharat-NCAP results. These new electric SUVs add to an impressive list that includes the Thar ROXX, XUV 3XO, and XUV400, all of which have recently achieved the top rating under Bharat-NCAP standards. Additionally, Mahindra’s XUV700 and Scorpio-N have also secured 5-star ratings on the Global NCAP scale, highlighting the brand’s consistent focus on safety across its portfolio.
