Harpalpur (Madhya Pradesh): Congressmen and party workers gathered in protest outside the Nagar Parishad office on Wednesday, condemning what they called biased and unconstitutional encroachment removal actions. Led by former MLA Neeraj Dixit, the demonstrators marched to the office, demanding accountability from Nagar Parishad officials.

The protest began with a gathering at Krishi Upaj Mandi on Lahchura Road, followed by a march to the Nagar Parishad office. Slogans were raised, and a seven-point memorandum addressed to the Governor was submitted to newly appointed CMO Mahadev Awasthi.

The protest intensified and protesters criticized the Nagar Parishad for failing to provide basic amenities while targeting citizens with unconstitutional actions. They claimed demolitions conducted on January 10 violated protocols, leaving affected families in distress. Former MLA Dixit insisted on immediate action against involved Nagar Parishad employees and called for a thorough investigation into the matter.

The demonstration saw a sit-in outside the Nagar Parishad gate, with demands for compensation to affected traders and shopkeepers. Harpalpur police assured the protesters of action pending investigation into alleged misconduct by Nagar Parishad staff. Congress leaders emphasized the need for transparency and adherence to rules in municipal operations, pledging to continue their agitation until their demands are met.
