Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A state-of-the-art 1.5 Tesla MRI machine has been installed at JP District Hospital, offering a significant upgrade to the hospital's diagnostic services. Previously, the hospital only had a CT scan facility, with no MRI services available.

The new MRI machine will be inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla on Wednesday. Public Health and Medical Education Department, in collaboration with Krishna Diagnostic Limited, will operate the MRI facility under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.

The rates for MRI services will be considerably lower than those under the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS), making the service more accessible to a wider range of patients. Dr. Rakesh Shrivastava, Civil Surgeon at JP Hospital, told Free Press that for patients with Ayushman cards, MRI services will be provided free of charge.

For Above Poverty Line (APL) cardholders, there will be a 33% discount. While the market rate for a brain MRI is around Rs 8,000, the cost at JP Hospital will be only Rs 1,300, offering a significant financial relief to patients. With the addition of the MRI facility, JP Hospital aims to enhance its healthcare services, improving diagnostic accuracy and patient care.
