Mumbai: A molestation and harassment case has been registered at Wadala T.T. Police Station against BEST Depot Managers Girish Vajpayee and Salim Khatri under sections 79 and 351(2) of the BNS Act. The incident pertains to alleged misconduct with a female BEST bus conductor and occurred between January 8 and January 10, 2025.
The complainant, a female BEST bus conductor, reported that in November 2024, at Pratiksha Nagar, Sion, Mumbai, she had repeatedly requested light-duty work from Depot Manager Girish Vajpayee. However, Vajpayee allegedly responded with inappropriate remarks, saying, "Did you get pregnant after asking me? If you want to work, do it; otherwise, stay home."
Disturbed by this incident, the complainant uploaded a video on YouTube highlighting the issue and the remarks made by Vajpayee. After the video was made public, another depot manager, Salim Khatri, who was not directly involved in the original incident, began calling the complainant repeatedly between January 8 and January 10, 2025.
Khatri allegedly threatened the complainant, insisting that she come to the office, and made inappropriate comments, asking if she would come alone or bring someone with her. His actions caused the complainant significant mental distress and humiliation.
Based on her complaint, the Wadala T.T. Police Station has registered a case under the relevant sections of the BNS Act, and further investigation is underway.
