Novak Djokovic who is competing in the Australian Open 2025 was captured attending Big Bash League 2024-2025 derby match between Melbourne Renegades and Melbourne Stars. During the match, Melbourne Stars captain Marcus Stoinis got out in a fascinating style that caught the attention of Novak Djokovic. Djokovic will face USA’s Nishesh Basavareddy at the Australian Open in the opening round on Monday.

Tom Rogers threw a full-length ball which Stars captain Marcus Stoinis try to hit over the boundary line at long off. Glenn Maxwell guides Melbourne Stars to competitive total

Renegades after winning the toss decided to bowl first. The bowlers did a fantastic job to put Stars under pressure dismissing six batsmen for just 75 runs on the board. However, Maxwell turned the tide with a blazing knock.

Maxwell was batting on 10 off eight balls when the Stars lost their seventh wicket at the end of the eleventh over. The 36-year-old then stitched 81-run partnership with Usama Mir taking most of the strike between the two and allowing the spinner to play only five balls. Fergus O'Neill was the economical bowler for the Renegades with figures of 2/16.

Maxwell eventually finished his innings at 90 off 52 balls smashing four fours and ten sixes in his knock to help the team put up 165. At the time of writing Renegades were 44/4 with Mark Steketee taking 3 wickets
