Lucknow: Once pursued by the law, Nakdu Yadav dodged the system by blending into it and hiding himself under the nose of the police. The accused gangster reportedly worked for 35 years as a home guard in Uttar Pradesh as Nandlal Yadav. However, his Houndini act came to an end when he was nearing his retirement.

The 57-year-old man was arrested for allegedly securing a job using forged documents and a fake identity. Between 1984 to 89 he was allegedly charged with multiple criminal cases, including murder, attempted murder and dacoity, reported PTI.

Yadav was also reportedly charged with Gangster Act for the alleged criminal activities during those five years. However, he disappeared for a few months and re-emerged with a forged identity and fake documents, reported The Times of India. He then secured the job as a home guard in 1989.

Yadav reportedly presented a forged Class 8 certificate for securing the job. However, Yadav studied till class 4 at a primary school. By 1990, Nakdu changed his identity to Nandlal Yadav and continued working under this alias, police said as reported by PTI.

In September 1992, local police and intelligence officials reportedly signed the gangster's character certificate, which enabled him to maintain his position. He worked at Mehnagar police station for 35 years and evaded detection.

"Cases are registered against Nakdu in Rani ki Sarai police station. A departmental investigation is being conducted to determine how he managed to evade detection for so long. The accused is currently in jail," said Superintendent of Police (Azamgarh) Hemraj Meena.

As per the TOI report, Yadav's nephew tipped off the police about his actual identity. Yadav was arrested last year in December. The matter came to light when Yadav's nephew filed a complaint in December against him and also alleged that he had secured the job fraudulently.

In 1984, the gangster reportedly shot a man due to personal enmity. He was also allegedly involved in the robbery and other serious crimes.

Notably, the officers who signed his character certificate are also under scrutiny.
