India’s rising cricket star, Nitish Reddy, received a grand and emotional welcome upon his return to his hometown of Visakhapatnam after a stellar performance in debut Test series in Australia.

The 21-year-old all-rounder was greeted by a large gathering of fans, family, and a festive band at the airport. A video shared on social media, were Reddy and his family were seen riding a tractor, surrounded by jubilant supporters celebrating his achievements.

Reddy’s debut series in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024 was noteworthy, despite India narrowly losing the five-match series.

The youngster made headlines with a remarkable maiden Test century during the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). His father was visibly emotional watching his son’s heroic performance, describing the moment as a special day for their family.

In his debut Test series, Reddy emerged as the fourth-highest run-scorer, amassing 298 runs at an average of 37.25. His standout performance came in the fourth Test, where he scored a resilient 114 runs at the iconic MCG. With the ball, the all-rounder contributed with five crucial wickets, proving his value as a genuine all-rounder.

Prior to the Test series, Reddy impressed in a white-ball series against Bangladesh, showcasing his potential with both bat and ball. His consistent performances have positioned him as a strong contender for selection in India’s Champions Trophy squad, likely as a backup all-rounder.
