Actress Kunickaa Sadanand made some shocking claims about legendary singer Kumar Sanu in a new podcast, and claimed that the two dated for five years before calling it quits, but theirs was an extremely secret relationship. She also shared that the singer once tried to kill himself after getting drunk due to his "difficult relationship" with his wife.

During her interaction with Siddharth Kannan, Kunickaa revealed that she was attracted to Sanu when she was trying to make a place for herself in the industry while the singer was at his peak. Recalling the incident which brought them closer, the actress shared. "He was in a very difficult relationship with his wife Rita. We met when I was in Ooty for a shoot and he was there for a vacation with his sister and nephew. We were sharing a drink once and he got very drunk. He started crying and he wanted to jump from the hotel’s window. He was very depressed. We held him down," she revealed.

She stated that post their return from the trip, Sanu separated from his wife Rita, and started living close to Kunickaa's place. They fell in love and dated each other for five years, but nobody got a whiff of it. "I was like a wife to him, I considered him like my husband," she said.

Kunickaa also claimed that when Rita found out about the affair, she smashed the actress' car with a hockey stick. "She would come outside my house and scream. But I understood her. She wanted money for her children, she wasn’t wrong. She said she didn’t want him back," she shared.

Kunickaa and Sanu eventually broke up, and the singer went on to marry his now-wife, Saloni.

Sanu got married to his first wife, Rita Bhattacharya, in the 1980s, however, they got divorced in 1994, after Rita got to know of "another woman" in the singer's life. Sanu has three children with Rita -- Jiko, Jassi, and Bigg Boss 14 fame, Jaan.
