A shocking incident unfolded at Loni Kalbhor in Pune district where an altercation over open urination turned into violence, culminating in physical assault and gunfire. The incident took place near a hotel in Theur around 8pm on Friday.

The accused have been identified as Bhanudas Shelar, Ajay Mundhe and Satish alias Nana Mundhe. All the accused have been detained.

According to the police, on Friday evening a group of four to five men were travelling in a car. They stopped the car near Jai Malhar Hotel to urinate in an open plot.

Victim Akshay Sahabrao Chavan, who works as a watchman, opposed them and asked them not to urinate in the plot as he was present there with his wife.

The argument turned violent as the accused allegedly physically assaulted them with their hands and stones, leading to injuries to him and his wife Sheetal Chavan.

Meanwhile, Ajay Mundhe reportedly fired a gunshot in the air to create terror in the area before leaving the scene.

Speaking to The Free Press Journal, Rajendra Karankat, Senior Police Inspector of Loni Kalbhor police station said, "We have detained the accused and seized the unlicensed pistol from them. They all were going to Moshi when they stopped the car for urinating at an open plot near the hotel."

"The condition of the injured victims is stable. The source of getting an unlicensed pistol is still unknown. We are interrogating them too and soon the link of illegal arms sources will be opened," he added.

Regarding the matter, a case has been registered in Loni Kalbhor police station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
