Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): Four men were severely injured in a violent altercation that took place between two rival gangs late on Wednesday night in MP's Jabalpur. Both groups were involved in knife attacks and open firing. Prima facie, the altercation may have erupted due to a dispute that took place a day earlier between the rival parties.

Weapons, including sharp knives, were recovered from the scene by the police. The condition of one injured individual is said to be critical. Two of the four injured have been sent to the local hospital, whereas the other two have been sent to a bigger medical facility in the city.

According to information, the injured have been identified as Deepak Patel, Amber Patel, Raja Patel, and Akash Patel, reportedly family members of a former BJP councillor, and Golu Giri, Pramendra, and Pravesh Thakur from the opposing faction. According to preliminary investigation, both the rival gangs have previously been involved in violent disputes over territorial dominance in the area.

On Wednesday night, both the parties faced each other once again. Reportedly, the previous night, members of both gangs had a scuffle over a petty issue; the dispute went unresolved. The next night, both parties confronted again. This time, the scuffle intensified to a full-blown gang war situation. Gunshots were fired, and knives were brandished. Not only were they brandished, but one gang member even stabbed another one to assert dominance.

Police Investigation

Hearing the gunshots, nearby residents called the police, who arrived at the scene promptly. Hearing the police arrive, several members of both gangs fled. The injured were sent to the local hospital for further treatment, where the condition of one of the injured remains critical.

Police have filed an FIR against both the accused gangs and have begun an investigation into the matter. Guns and knives that were recovered from the spot have been sent to the forensic department. A small police force has been deployed to maintain peace in the area.
