Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): An Emergency Medical Room was inaugurated on Platform No.1 of Bhopal Railway Station on Wednesday morning. The facility has been established in collaboration between Bhopal Rail Division and Atharv Jyoti Hospital and Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Devashish Tripathi had the honour to cut the ribbon.

It will begin operations in January 2025.

The purpose of the facility is to provide immediate medical assistance to passengers in case of emergency. The event was attended by Chief Medical Superintendent Dr. Ajay Dogra, Divisional Engineer (Headquarters) Shyam Nagar, and other officials.

According to information, the medical dispensary at Bhopal Railway Station has been non-operational for the past five months. The officials in the department said it will resume its services in January. The dispensary was first opened in 2019 but was later shut down. It reopened in 2022 before being closed again for the last five months.

Officials attributed the closure to a prolonged dispute between two city hospitals over the "Galaxy Hospital" title, which eventually led to a court case. Following the legal proceedings, the railway terminated the contract, leaving the dispensary inactive.

What all does the new emergency medical room have to offer?

The new emergency medical room will operate 24/7. It will offer basic first aid, oxygen cylinders, and ambulance services. Advanced medical equipment like nebulisers, pulse oximeters, and ECG machines are available. Passengers can also access routine health checks, including blood pressure and sugar tests.

Facilities such as wheelchairs and stretchers are provided for those in need. Trained doctors and paramedical staff will be on duty to ensure prompt assistance.
