Former cricketer Vinod Kambli has thanked his childhood friend Sachin Tendulkar for all the blessings he has with him as he continues to fight his deteriorating health. Speaking to ANI he said, "I am feeling better now...I will never leave this (cricket) because I remember the number of centuries and double centuries I have hit...We are three left-handers in the family. I am thankful to Sachin Tendulkar as his blessings have always been with me..."
Kambli was admitted to Aakriti Hospital in Thane on Saturday evening with doctors expressing concern over his brain health.
Doctor on Vinod Kambli's detoriating condition
Accordin gto News 24 report, Dr. Vivek Dwivedi, who is currently treating Kambli, mentioned that he was brought to hospital with a high-grade fever and though the vitals are stable now, the condition of his brain is still unstable.
Dr Dwivedi said, “His brain’s condition is not stable… There are degenerative changes in his brain. So, we are focussing more on rehabilitation.
He added, “We admitted him on Saturday evening. He was experiencing muscle cramps and dizziness at home… He had a high-grade fever when we brought him to the hospital and difficulty walking due to muscle cramps. On investigation, we found that he had a urine infection, and sodium and potassium deficiency which were causing muscle cramps. A brain scan revealed that he had old clots because he had suffered a stroke recently. We admitted him to the ICU because he also had low BP… His vitals are stable but his treatment and physiotherapy are ongoing. We are planning to discharge him in 2-3 days,”
MP Shrikant Shinde pledges Rs 5 lakh aid
According to a PTI report Kalyan Lok Sabha MP Shrikant Shinde, the son of Eknath Shinde, announced financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh for Kambli. The assistance will be provided through the Dr Shrikant Shinde Foundation next week, the release said.
Additionally, Shrikant Shinde has assured Kambli and his family of further support in the days to come, according to OSD Chiwte. Kambli expressed heartfelt gratitude to the state's sensitive leadership, particularly Eknath Shinde, who is an MLA from Thane district, and Shrikant Shinde, for their support and concern for him. The former cricketer also expressed a desire to personally meet the Deputy CM to thank him for the support extended during his time of need,
